After prayer and just going with our gut instinct, we decided to go with Lifelink adoption agency which is located in Champaign. We felt more comfortable interacting with our caseworker face to face instead of over the phone. And we felt more comfortable with our caseworker’s level of experience. So, we trust that we are being covered in prayer by our friends and family (hint! hint!) and be ok with going with a not as explicitly Christian agency.

We just completed our application to Lifelink which consisted of just the normal background info stuff but it also consisted of us having to write a narrative (ie. essay) about our lives. We had to write about our history, such as how our parent’s handled discipline and personalities and roles in our homes of origin. I had to describe the Korean method of discipline which is standing in the corner with your hands held above your head. All you Koreans out there know what I am talking about, right?! =) We had to describe how we were as children, in terms of the activities we liked, our personalities, what our school experiences were like, how we handled seperation and loss. And all of this we had to do individually. So it was nice to read each other’s essays as we learned a little about each other that we didn’t know. Then we had to write about our dating experience, why we got married, how our daily lives are. We had to write about our pet peeves that we have of each other…that was fun! Our essay ended up being 10 PAGES long!

But praise God we are done. We have found 5 people who have so graciously agreed to be our references. Props to you guys! We are submitting our application this week. Yeah!

Praise God! Our preapplication has been accepted and we are now officially on the road to China. We have been assigned a social worker who will be working with us and are now starting our formal application. The formal application has more detailed questions and we need to give references. We even have to write a short essay explaining why we want to adopt. Any English majors out there want to help us out? =)
